The Effectiveness of Self-Assertiveness Training program for Rehabilitation of Schizophrenic patients

Abstract

|
This study focuses on examining the possibilities of application as a rehabilitation program to help the patients adapt themselves to the society after applying the self-assertiveness training program to the patients of rehabilitation center in mental hospital and measuring the effects. The program was practiced at rehabilitation center at Y hospital eleven times for eleven weeks starting from September, 14 to November, 23.
To see the measurement of the effects of the program Y hospital’s five-step measurement modified from Ruthus’s self-assertiveness measurement was cited. The results of the statistics of the self-assertiveness test sheet in this study are as follows. In this experiment nine patients were under t-test, and the results of the responses, 28 among 30 items, the significant level, 0.05 was meaningless as statistic figures.
As a result the self-assertive training program applied to the small group of 9 estimated non-effective rehabilitation treatment on the schizophrenic patients.
Accordingly, in order to give the effects of the self-assertiveness training program to the rehabilitation for the patients, the following items should be added.
First, when the self-assertiveness program is applied more than 30 sample patients are needed for the fidelity of the program.
Second, when rehabilitation program is applied a variety of programs such as social skill training, occupational therapy and group activities are applied at the same time.
Finally, the measurement apparatus self-assertiveness training for the schizophrenic patients should be researched and developed to adapt psychiatric setting and Korean Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation at Korean surroundings.
